It is not actually a German study
The IZA is an international institute of labor economists with its headquarters in Bonn. While the study was "initiated by the Deutsche Post Foundations, the four researchers and authors are all US professionals.
The document is a "Discussion Paper" which is intended to generate discussion and feedback. I read through the assumptions, the models (equations) and it looks like very solid work at this point. I would expect that there will be some modifications based on cogent feedback from other researchers as time goes on. [Post edited by NJHoo at 09/08/2020 3:15PM]
